Opening and closing
Count both sides of the position. Calculate against notional value, not just margin.
A fair futures comparison includes opening and closing fees, funding and execution costs. The lowest headline maker fee does not establish the lowest total cost for your position.

Keep periodic funding separate from exchange trading fees and rebate estimates.
Include spread and slippage. Leverage can amplify losses and liquidation risk.
Use your contract’s actual rates. Starting values are hypothetical examples, not OKX or Binance prices. Enter the signed funding rate shown by the exchange, then choose long or short so the calculator can determine whether you pay or receive.
Simplified linear-contract illustration: assumes unchanged notional, constant funding and rebate eligibility on both trading fees. Actual funding rates, timing and position value can change. Excludes price profit/loss, spread, slippage and liquidation charges. Funding is not rebated in this calculation.
A position with $1,000 of margin and 10× leverage has approximately $10,000 of notional exposure. At a hypothetical 0.05% fee, one side costs $5, not $0.50. Closing the position can incur another fee. This explains costs; it is not a recommendation to use leverage.
At a positive funding rate, long positions pay short positions; a negative rate reverses the direction. OKX describes funding as a payment between position holders. Check the contract’s next settlement time: its interval can change. See OKX’s funding mechanism.
For an unchanged $10,000 position, hypothetical opening and closing fees of 0.05% each total $10. An eligible 20% trading-fee rebate returns $2. One positive 0.01% funding period costs a long position $1, making its estimated net cost $9; a short receives $1, making its estimated net cost $7. These figures exclude price movements and execution costs.
Actual entry, exit and funding values can differ as prices and position sizes change. Review each settlement in your account for a realized total. Coin-margined contracts require their own contract formula; this tool illustrates linear contracts. Binance’s futures fee guide explains its separate charge categories.
